A BAD Week 15: Everything Bill and Doug wrote and said leading into Ohio State vs. Indiana, in case you missed it
Stories, shows and podcasts as the Buckeyes lost an offensive coordinator, signed a recruiting class and prepared for a 1-2 showdown.

INDIANAPOLIS — Greetings from the land of the Big Ten Championship. Bill and I will have coverage Saturday night from Lucas Oil Stadium of the Ohio State-Indiana showdown. Make sure you are subscribed to our YouTube channel to catch the live postgame show Saturday night and the live playoff reaction show Sunday afternoon.
We’ve been talking about the rarity of this 1-2 matchup — the eighth in Ohio State history.
Here are the first seven, as the Buckeyes have gone 5-2:
Jan. 1, 1969, Rose Bowl, No. 1 OSU vs. No. 2 USC, 27-16 W
Jan. 3, 2003, National Championship, No. 1 Miami vs. No. 2 OSU, 31-24 W
Sept. 9, 2006, No. 1 OSU at No. 2 Texas, 24-7 W
Nov. 18, 2006, No. 1 OSU vs. No. 2 Michigan, 42-39 W
Jan. 8, 2007, National Championship, No. 1 OSU vs. No. 2 Florida, 41-14 L
Jan. 7, 2008, National Championship, No. 1 OSU vs. No. 2 LSU, 38-24 L
Aug. 30, 2025, No. 1 Texas at No. 2 OSU, 14-7 W
According to research referenced by Ohio State, this game will be the 64th 1-2 showdown in major college football history. I asked Ohio State for the list and they were nice enough to send it along. Those matchups by decade:
1940s: 6
1950s: 0
1960s: 8
1970s: 3
1980s: 11
1990s: 8
2000s: 14
2010s: 10
2020s: 4
By current Big Ten teams, once the Buckeyes and Hoosiers take the field, this will be the number of 1-2 games in which they’ve been involved:
8: Ohio State
6: Nebraska
5: Michigan
4: Penn State
2: Iowa
1: Wisconsin, Michigan State, Purdue, Oregon, Washington, Indiana
This will be the third 1-2 game involving two Big Ten teams. The others:
No. 1 Iowa 12, No. 2 Michigan 10, Oct. 19, 1985
No. 1 Ohio State 42, No. 2 Michigan 39, Nov. 18, 2006
This one.
Onto the coverage this week.
SATURDAY
Ohio State First Thoughts: Buckeyes snap losing streak to Michigan in poetic fashion
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — First thoughts on Ohio State snapping its losing streak to Michigan with a 27-9 win on Saturday at Michigan Stadium.
Ryan Day, college football's new statesman, flipped the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry 'with humility'
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Surely he had some baseball metaphor holstered, a call back to the shot Jim Harbaugh took at him back in 2021. Or maybe, while not planting a flag on the Block M at Michigan Stadium himself, Ryan Day would have something ready for his postgame press conference alluding to what Michigan did in Ohio Stadium last year.

Ohio State vs. Indiana, No. 1 vs. No. 2, is the best of college football in the Big Ten Championship ... and it still matters, right?
COLUMBUS — The plan is for Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate to play. Start there. The Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday matters at least that much to Ohio State.

Matt Patricia, Ohio State defense showed a connection in making adjustments vs. Michigan
COLUMBUS — Ryan Day couldn’t believe it. The longest rush Ohio State had allowed all season was 34 yards, and it happened on Sept. 27 at Washington. Then here was Michigan, on the first play of The Game, ripping off a 36-yard run.
TUESDAY
How Ohio State managed losing sideline communications against Michigan
COLUMBUS — With about 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter of Ohio State’s win against Michigan last Saturday, Fox broadcaster Joel Klatt noted that Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin was running to the sideline to get play calls. Klatt wondered if the coach-to-player communication speaker in Sayin’s helmet was broken.

WEDNESDAY
Tracking Ohio State's 2026 recruiting class
COLUMBUS — Wednesday was National Signing Day, and we tracked Ohio State’s 2026 recruiting class throughout the day. This post was updated as players officially signed with the Buckeyes, and/or Ohio State adds or loses recruiting flips throughout the day. But things continued through Wednesday.

COLUMBUS — What we learned from Ohio State head coach Ryan Day during his Tuesday press conference at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
What Brian Hartline's departure for USF means for Ohio State
COLUMBUS — Ryan Day was not asked specifically to comment on the departure of Ohio State offensive coordinator and receivers coach Brian Hartline for the head coaching job at South Florida when he said the following, but there are no accidents when a coach of Day’s stature is speaking in a setting like Wednesday’s National Signing Day press conference that doubled as an update on where the Buckeyes go in light of Hartline’s new opportunity.

Will the Ohio State-Indiana winner determine the Julian Sayin-Fernando Mendoza Heisman race? A look at history
COLUMBUS — Ryan Day compared it to sending a sailor out to sea. Julian Sayin hasn’t grown a beard (see face above), but the journey of Ohio State’s first-year starting quarterback from the Texas opener until now, especially through those big waves in Ann Arbor last weekend, has Day seeing a new man.

Or even like 8-0 or better?
Do you have the data to narrow this down to how many times it was 1 v 2 and both teams were 12-0?
