COLUMBUS — Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin has shot up the Heisman Trophy betting odds of late. However, a sampling of national college football media still has Sayin on the periphery of the conversation as folks around the sport offer their takes on the current Heisman front-runners.

Make no mistake, Sayin is in the race. By the same token, receiver Jeremiah Smith can find his way to meaningfully crashing the conversation, too.

But they have ground to make up.
