Trying to explain why it feels like Ohio State is leaning into its strengths in the passing game.
COLUMBUS — Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate accounted for 27.1 percent of Ohio State’s offensive plays in Saturday’s 34-0 win over Wisconsin. It felt like more.
Ohio State is dropping back to pass on 48.4 percent of its plays so far this season. It feels like more.
Maybe it’s just me, but when Ryan Day talks about efficiency in the offense, my mind goes first to run game and red zone. And then we talk about why the Buckeyes don’t chuck in downfield more. Time to think different.
My initial idea was to write about how the Buckeyes have increased how often they throw the ball to their two best receivers since the Michigan loss a year ago. And then I checked the numbers.
