INDIANAPOLIS — First thoughts on Ohio State’s 13-10 loss to Indiana in Saturday’s Big Ten Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium.

1. Ryan Day opted to put it on his kicker, who’s never shown an ability to make a kick of consequence. Ohio State drove the ball to the Indiana 9-yard line, trailing by three with less than three minutes to play. Facing fourth-and-1, Day opted for the field goal. Jayden Fielding pushed his 27-yard attempt to the left.

On OSU’s prior possession, the Buckeyes were stopped on fourth-and-1 inside the Indiana 10 when quarterback Julian Sayin’s knee grazed the turf on a sneak play, marking him just short of the first down.

The No. 1 Buckeyes had not been pushed to the fourth quarter by anyone all season.

Finally dragged there by the No. 2 Hoosiers, Ohio State’s offense moved it reasonably well into scoring position, but came up short twice.
