COLUMBUS — Firing off a couple of June Ohio State football thoughts on summer workouts, recruiting, and prospect camps.

1. I showed up at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center an hour early for Thursday’s prospect camp, hoping to get a glimpse of some current players going through summer workouts. I was rewarded with a 30-minute viewing window of a group of players (probably 30 or so) going through the paces under new full-time assistant strength coach Anthony Schlegel.

To be clear, these guys weren’t playing football. They were throwing sandbags and medicine balls and running sprints. It wasn’t the most enlightening 30 minutes, but it was noteworthy to me that two offensive linemen, Austin Siereveld and Josh Padilla, were full participants.
