COLUMBUS — Let’s say Ohio State’s win over No. 1 Texas on Saturday was really about the Longhorns fading in the afternoon sun in Columbus. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian talked a lot in his postgame news conference about how young his team was in key spots.
As for Heisman favorite Arch Manning, “the expectations were out of control on the outside,” Sarkisian said.

Frankly, everyone had both teams in the 12-team playoff before the game, and few should change that thought based on the Buckeyes’ 14-7 win. So Saturday was really about the sport, and the titans of college football squaring off in Week 1 even if they weren’t fully formed.
Now let’s say Ohio State’s win over No. 1 Texas was really about Ohio State.
