Next five years the openers are Ball State, BG, Buffalo, Navy and Nevada. This increases the odds family gets to see their kids actually play in the game. Travel is probably a bit cheaper than Thanksgiving. It’s warmer. Tickets are more readily available. Sets the tone for the year. I think it’s weird they’re doing it the same weekend as the Tressel Induction this year and would split em out, but otherwise makes sense to me.
I like the idea of moving these recognitions to the first game - eliminating the distractions for The Game is a good idea. I also support the Buckeye Legacy Day. It’s just one example - but JJ will certainly be leaving a legacy. There are countless other ways a third year player impacts the program.
I may be in the minority, but this makes as much sense as the Caamp song. Let’s move graduation from the end of the last semester to the beginning of the last semester. Students are almost there, right? Do you move senior tackle as well? This isn’t well conceived in my opinion.
