Ohio State notebook: What we learned about running backs, offensive line and more at Big Ten Media Days

CHICAGO — Ohio State was represented by head coach Ryan Day, quarterback Julian Sayin, receiver Jeremiah Smith and safety Jaylen McClain on Wednesday at Big Ten Media Days. Below is a collection of things we learned about some key positions as the Buckeyes get ready for camp to open next week.

1. Running back is the position Day pointed toward before preseason camp starts Thursday. He ran through the options there, noting that returning second-year players Bo Jackson (179 carries, 1090 rushing yards, 6.1 average) and Isaiah West (59 carries, 310 yards, 5.3 average) were injured during spring practice, and that the Buckeyes added veteran Florida transfer Ja’Kobi Jackson and freshman Legend Bey, and also brought back Year 2 back Turbo Rogers.

“We’ve got these pieces,” Day said. “But if we're going to get to where we need to go, we need a high level of play at that running back position. So this is critical. So that’s one thing I’ve got my eye on big time.”
