Ohio State spring football practice observations and video highlights: What stood out on Day 2
Bill and Doug share what they saw on the second day of spring ball.
COLUMBUS — Ohio State held spring practice No. 2 on Thursday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The Buckeyes will have next week off for spring break and return to practice on Tuesday, March 24.
Bill Landis and Doug Lesmerises share their observations from Thursday below, flipping sides of the ball from what they watched on Tuesday.
Offensive observations (Doug)
• The offensive line was the same as Tuesday, which means the four returning starters in their roles from last year and Gabe Van Sickle at right guard. As Bill and I have talked about, GVS as the leader in the clubhouse at right guard is probably not what we would have expected coming into spring.
• A reminder that the offensive tackle future is pretty bright. Second-year player Carter Lowe, a Top 100 recruit, is the second-team left tackle. Third-year Ian Moore, a Top 200 recruit, is the second-team right tackle. And first-year Sam Greer, a Top 50 recruit, is the third-team left tackle.
I tried to get a photo when the 6-foot-7 Greer, the tallest player on the roster, was standing next to 5-8 running back Turbo Rogers, the shortest player on the roster, but I just missed because I am not a professional photographer.
