The SEC announced last week that it will move to nine conference games starting next season and will require its teams to play a 10th game against a power conference opponent. As Ohio State gets ready to start a home-and-home series against an SEC team in Texas, we’re wondering what the new schedule dynamics might mean for the Buckeyes’ future series against Alabama and Georgia.
Will those series survive?
On this new episode, Doug and Bill discuss that, plus whether we think the Big Ten will respond in kind with the addition of a mandated 10th power conference game, and if this is all good for college football.
Speaking of Ohio State vs. Texas, Ryan Day is scheduled for a press conference on Tuesday at noon to preview that game. We’ll be back with another show later this afternoon to recap what was said.
On Wednesday, we’ll do our preseason draft of the 20 most important Buckeyes for 2025. That show will be for subscribers only. So if you’re thinking about subscribing, make sure you do before Wednesday so you don’t miss that show.
If you missed Doug’s story from Tuesday about how the 2005 Ohio State vs. Texas game placed a curse on the Longhorns; check it out below.
The Curse of Ohio State-Texas 2005
COLUMBUS — Two weeks ago, James Laurinaitis mentioned the what-ifs from two decades ago, from the night the Ohio State Buckeyes lost to the Texas Longhorns. But he refused to revisit them in detail.
Thanks as always for being here.
