I feel alone here, I personally love when they do entirely alternate helmets & even one off uniform editions like the 09-11 Michigan & I think Wisconsin games. The tweak to the rose bowl helmets vs Oregon was a lovely, simpler touch and I wish they would do more of things like that.
Agree, not even every year but every 2 or 3 I wish they would do something more creative than just change the base color of the pants. I really liked the 2017 Penn State game unis with the dark gray camo helmet with the red buckeye stickers. Didn't love that they used them for The Game though. Keep that traditional
I really like some of the looks. All white, especially. BUT... can we agree that THE Game demands our traditional uniform. That is not the time to mess with tradition. Some of the highlights from years past when we did change it up for THE Game look ridiculous now. Also, both schools need to agree to wear their regular home uniform at the same time. It's a great look.
I understand they are an institution of higher learning and could never call them this, but to me the all-white uniforms will ALWAYS be the "Cocaine White" option.
I care about Ohio State uniforms a lot and think these are all great, I've been waiting for them to get back to the heritage/buckeye stripe forever, and the shinier silver on the sleeve is a great touch. I don't LOVE the all scarlet look, but otherwise I hope this is our base set forever.
With that said, and while I do think Ohio State should wear their classic look for 9 to 10 out of 12 games, I do hope every few years they mix in a more "off template" look. I loved the big stripe look with the chrome helmets they wore early in the urban Meyer era, and I'm even partial to the throwbacks they wore on the road at Michigan in 2009
This never should have taken this long to happen but i AM SO HAPPY that it’s finally here. TheCORE AWAY is the best uniform in football at every level.
My favorite alternate uniforms of the past several years were the white uniforms they wore against TTUN in 2017 when Haskins had to step in, although I don't like alternates in The Game. I didn't like the gray home version of that set much, but I really liked the away set. Otherwise, I think most alternates OSU have done have been decent-to-good, but not amazing. I really like the shoulder stripe and wouldn't mind if it stuck around, but I did also like when it was a post-season only treat.
I need to get used to the more silvery gray shoulder stripe. At first I didn't like it as much as the more matte gray version of it that was used previously but it is growing on me so I'm not sure now
I’m glad they’re embracing this and being open/transparent about it. Still some room to improve on that, but the ambiguity was annoying - like saying they saved the heritage stripe for big games like the B1G championship and then NOT WEARING IT…
I am far more excited about the new field.
I agree, the new field is a lot more exciting than the uni’s. But I am glad we get both!
The big news about the field is removing the slit-film turf and moving to an NFL-approved turf.
You can’t mess with tradition, but seeing the all black uniforms for a night game against a good opponent was also something else!
Living in Duck country with Ducks in the family, I'm always happy when the Buckeye uniforms get some special attention.
