COLUMBUS — What we learned from Ohio State head coach Ryan Day during his Tuesday press conference at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

1. Receiver Watch took on a different tone this week.

Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate played against Michigan. They both scored touchdowns. Their presence was felt as Ohio State flipped the rivalry back in its favor.

“When those guys are on the field, they make everybody better,” Day said, “because of the plays they make and how they affect a defense. If you think you’re gonna have one guy cover them the whole game, it’s gonna be a challenge. That’s no mystery. It’s also a mindset for the whole team when you see them walk out. It just gives everybody a certain level of confidence, because they know how special (Smith and Tate) are.”

Can the top-ranked Buckeyes count on riding that same wave of confidence into Saturday’s Big Ten Championship against No. 2 Indiana?
