COLUMBUS — Thoughts on what we saw from Ohio State’s offense in Saturday’s season-opening win against Ball State.

1. Jeremiah Smith hit a Heisman pose.

The early college football slate has seen some breakout receiving performances, including Miami’s Malachi Toney hitting a Heisman pose after each of his three touchdowns on Friday night against Stanford. Smith didn’t strike the stiff-arm pose after his first touchdown on Saturday, a 48-yard bomb from Julian Sayin, but he did after his second, a two-handed grab in the back of the end zone at the end of the first half that punctuated a snappy 91-yard drive in the two-minute drill.
