What should we cover? Vote on the stories and topics you want BAD to spend time on
Doug and Bill have a bunch of ideas and want your input.

COLUMBUS — Hello, bosses. Since you pay us, we thought it was time to check on what you’d like us to spend time on when football games aren’t actually being played.
We’re almost six weeks removed from Ohio State’s last football game of the 2025 season, and we’re 29 weeks out from the first football game of the 2026 season. We can, and will, talk and write football many, or most, days between now and then.
But how should we do it? And what else should we do?
This survey will help us decide. Based on ideas we’ve had, we’re going to ask for your interest level on a variety of subjects. This isn’t ranking anything. It’s just looking at each idea and deciding how interested you’d be in reading or hearing about it. The choices for each will be Very Interested, Somewhat Interested, and Not Interested.
We are also open to other ideas, so feel free to add comments at the end of this story on any of the suggested topics, or on ideas you have that we didn’t mention. Fire away on anything else you have to say about how we can best serve you.
We’ll also talk this out on the Wednesday Substack show this week, so we’re extra interested in any feedback about what in Ohio State sports interests you the most.
Thanks as always! Here are the options:
Cover men’s basketball at home games and write some stories and do some shows about the basketball Buckeyes.
Cover other OSU sports in that way. Are there any other sports in particular? Or would there be interest in covering, to some degree, any OSU team competing for a Big Ten or national title? (Feel free to add specific sports at the bottom.)
NFL combine coverage. Going to Indy to talk with guys getting ready for the draft about their journey, and the new OSU guys coming up behind them.
The Top 100 Buckeyes in football history. Research, assemble and write a long collection of stories and podcasts on the 100 best football players in Ohio State history, attempting a definitive list that combines the past and the present.
Where are they now? Taking suggestions on players of the past, often more obscure Buckeyes, and attempting to track them down to interview and write about them and what they are doing today.
A narrative, multi-part podcast similar to what we did at Kings of the North with the The 25-Year Winter where we choose an Ohio State topic and research, write and record a series available only to paid subscribers.
The 10 best athletes at Ohio State. Identifying the 10 overall best athletes from all sports at Ohio State and compiling the list and writing stories about them.
Checking on whether each Ohio State sport is meeting its standard. A comprehensive look at all 36 OSU sports to compare/contrast, and attempt to determine, if a sport is performing at the level it should based on the investment in the program and the talent available to Ohio State in that sport.
The Woody Files. Going back in the OSU archives to write and talk about the past, maybe discover some new things about OSU football.
Going on the road to do a feature, or a handful of features, about Ohio State football recruits. Visit their high schools, coaches, families and people who know them.
Attempt to dive into the financials of Ohio State to determine the fiscal health of the athletic department.
